Capnography, IPPV and Ventilators - Breathing for Our Patients

This talk will discuss the the basic functions of respiration and how this is effected when our patients are anaesthetised. We will look at what anaesthetic circuits are suitable and how to correctly perform IPPV. It will also cover how to monitor the effectiveness of respiration using different modalities such as pulse oximetry and capnography. Both short and long term mechanical ventilation will be discussed and the use of different ventilators within practice and how to overcome any problems that may be experienced in house.
