What is Effitix M Pack 2 for medium-sized dogs?

Effitix M 10–20 kg Pack 2 comprises two packs of 4 pipettes. The pack contains 8 pipettes of 2.2 ml, formulated for medium-sized dogs weighing between 10 and 20 kg.

It is a topical veterinary medicine containing fipronil and permethrin. It is intended for use in cases of infestation or risk of fleas and ticks, where protection against sandflies or mosquitoes is also required.

Which parasites does Effitix M Duplo treat?

The activity against adult fleas and ticks lasts for 4 weeks. Permethrin provides a repellent effect against sand flies and mosquitoes for the same period.

Some bites may still occur despite application. For this reason, the transmission of infectious agents cannot be completely ruled out.

Composition of Effitix M pipettes

Each 2.2 ml pipette contains 134.2 mg of fipronil and 1,199 mg of permethrin. It also contains 0.44 mg of butylhydroxyanisole (E320), 0.22 mg of butylhydroxytoluene (E321), benzyl alcohol and diethylene glycol monoethyl ether.

Correct method of application

1. Weigh the animal and check that it falls within the 10–20 kg range.
2. Hold the pipette upright, draw the contents into the main body of the pipette and snap off the tip.
3. Part the fur to gain direct access to the skin.
4. Apply the dose at two points along the back, from the shoulders towards the base of the tail.

Use a full M pipette. Do not reduce the interval between applications to less than 4 weeks. Your vet may adjust the frequency depending on the parasite burden.

Who is Effitix M intended for?

This formulation is intended for dogs weighing 10 to 20 kg that are 12 weeks of age or older. Do not use on sick or convalescing animals, or on those below the minimum weight.

Possible adverse reactions

In very rare cases, transient skin reactions, generalised itching, vomiting, agitation, lethargy, tremors or lack of coordination have been reported. If the dog licks the treated area, it may salivate temporarily. Consult your vet if any symptoms appear.

Precautions for the animal and the home

• Do not use on cats or rabbits. Exposure to permethrin can be fatal to a cat.
• Avoid contact between animals until the application has dried.
• Do not touch the treated area for around 12 hours and wash your hands after use.
• Avoid frequent bathing and access to watercourses for 2 days.
• Consult your vet before use during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding.
